A Walk In The Snow: Dress-up Style

Wow, it's been a long time.  If you want to know what I was doing all that time, slip over to my shop and take a look - a lot has changed in the last 8 months.  But with the Christmas season almost here, I've decided this blog needs a bit of attention too. :)

Speaking of Christmas, we had our first snowfall today!  I simply had to take the opportunity to get pictures of my dolls in some of my dresses out there in all the beautiful whiteness...
Walking home from market as the snow falls softly around her.  This purple medieval dress looks so pretty against the snow.

Feeling the snow crunch beneath her boots as she walks, wearing her warm renaissance dress...

I love Millie in this dress; it really complements her blue eyes and golden hair!  She looks like an angel in this picture...

Elsie looks beautiful here in this pink ball gown... especially against the snow!

"She decided to take the shortcut home through the forest instead of taking the road.  She loved the woods in the wintertime.  Her soft blue dress swirled around her as she walked."

"She was all ready for the Christmas ball in her twirly gown of rich red satin and snowy lace."

"Snow drifted silently down through the chilly air, brushing her cheek.  The tiny flakes settled delicately on her shoulders, sparkling against the deep jewel tones of her luxurious cape."

"Her red dress was her favorite.  She especially loved how striking the color was against the whiteness of the snow."

Thanks for reading!  Remember, all these lovely dresses are available in my shop, but they won't stay there long!  They would all make great Christmas presents for that little girl who loves and treasures her dolls!

Beginnings

While RainbowLilyDesigns on Etsy is a relatively new project, I have been designing and creating doll dresses for many years.  I have made them for friends and family and have sold quite a few at local bazaars, and now have created on online Etsy shop to share my designs with people all around the world!

The love of sewing has been passed down to me from a very creative Grandmother and Mom, and became a dearly loved hobby of mine ever since I first touched a sewing machine.  I created my first doll dress without any assistance, and only a year or two later, I was making and designing piles of them to sell at bazaars!

Every one of my designs is unique, with love and thought going into every detail and stitch.  They begin with a picture in my mind, which then gets sketched out (with lots of notes) into my notebook of inspirations. :) Then the pattern drafting begins, working with pieces of other patterns I've created to make a whole new design.  Next comes the whirlwind of cutting, sewing, serging, pinning, etc, and then the finished product emerges: perfect!

I enjoy taking pictures of my products.  While I like taking photos out of doors, oftentimes the rainy Pacific Northwest weather doesn't allow it, so I have to set up my indoor photography stand and then I shoot away.  The resulting photos are then filtered through, watermarked, and are put up in the shop!

So that's a brief synopsis of what goes on behind the scenes in my shop!  Check back later to hear more details and see pictures of what I do!
